Corporate Leader for Kirby Arnold & Associates Workshops
Paul is a retired business executive with extensive experience in consumer products focusing on business strategy development, new product development, consumer product marketing, marketing research, and union/management “jointness”. A tenacious leader, he is known for designing structures, systems and processes that create alignment and drive results. Paul worked 34 years with Scott Paper Co. in various line and staff positions before retiring in 1995.
Prior to retiring, Paul was Sr. V.P. of the Americas Region, a division of Scott. He was responsible for Scott’s tissue, pulp and forest product businesses in North America along with an export business to South America. Under his leadership, sales revenue grew to $3 billion and operating profits grew to $360 million. His personal focus was the culture, reshaping it from one that pushed volume to one that maximized profit and generated over $3 billion of free cash flow. His greatest challenge was to help develop a cooperative working relationship with union leadership to jointly shift productivity in manufacturing. During his tenure, the workforce was reduced by 4,000 to 13,000 while increasing output.
Previous to this role, Paul was V.P. of the U.S. Consumer Product business, V.P. of Strategic Planning, V.P. of Venture Management and Director of Marketing Research. He started as an Analyst in Marketing Research and held other staff positions.
