Corporate Leader for Kirby Arnold & Associates Workshops

Kathy has extensive knowledge of budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting systems and requirements, developed over 15 years of accounting and finance experience with a variety of entities, including computer and high-tech manufacturers, gaming/entertainment companies, and non-profit schools.  She has experience in both private and public companies. 

Kathy began her career with Arthur Andersen & Co.  She audited major public companies, mostly involved with manufacturing and oil and gas extraction.  She gained a good understanding of these businesses and their financial systems as well as of generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements. 

She then worked for more than six years in controller and business planning positions for manufacturers, some with international interests.   She was responsible for accounting departments as well as financial reporting and budgeting and the information systems supporting these areas.  

Subsequently, she directed and supervised the financial reporting and accounting functions for Harrah Entertainment, Inc.’s Lake Tahoe property. During this time she was very involved with tracking major capital renovation projects and the merger of Harveys Casino and Hotel operations into the Harrah’s operations. 

Most recently she has been responsible for the accounting functions of the Rite of Passage for-profit and non-profit entities which provide residential school programs for troubled youth in the western United States.  She helped develop the accounting department, accounting policies and procedures, and information systems as well as overseeing insurance, cash management, and accounting operations.

She has also volunteered on the boards of several youth, arts and trails organizations.
