Dan Powell

Corporate Leader for Kirby Arnold & Associates Workshops

Dan Powell has 32 years’ business experience with publicly-traded U.S., European, and Asia Pacific-based entities. A successful senior executive within entrepreneurial and business-to-business environments, he has held responsibility for all components of revenue, profit and operations assigned to a president’s role. Dan’s key skills lie in the areas of consistently high performance, business turnarounds, and people and team development. He has significant experience as a general manager and sales leader within Fortune 500 technology companies.

Dan began building his expertise across numerous industries and customer profiles, domestic and international P&L accountability for all segments of the enterprise, and product development through customer delivery during his 25-year career at Xerox. He ultimately served as the senior vice president and general manager over the company’s Western Operations. In this position, Dan achieved the #1 ranking in year-over-year revenue growth from amongst the seven entities covering the U.S. He also reorganized sales and marketing around an integrated geographic and industry based coverage model. Additionally, by targeting financial services, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, commercial print, and the public sector, Dan generated new business revenues in excess of $490M.

Dan also served as vice president and general manager over Xerox’s South Coast Operations. His efforts to increase revenue and profit growth by 46% over three years garnered him the #1 national ranking for the best “sustained” performance from the 36 operations within the U.S. In 1996 and 1998, he was also ranked #1 for the best employee satisfaction within the U.S. Other awards include Xerox Corporation’s achievement of the Malcolm Baldridge Award when he served as a senior auditor in 1989.

Dan added to his base of business-to-business expertise at Toshiba America Information Systems, where, as corporate vice president and general manager for the computer systems group, he led the newly created Relationship Business Unit (B2B), whose revenues grew to over $200M. He also served as a corporate officer for Toshiba America, Information Systems, where his primary focus was on the integration of new wireless applications to the marketplace. Business unit responsibilities included all enterprise customers within the U.S.; he also had worldwide accountability for select U.S.-based companies.

Later, Dan took a position with OCE, North America, which is headquartered in the Netherlands and is a worldwide leader in the Document Management Business and related software. As senior vice president of sales and marketing, Dan took what had been OCE’s lowest performing region in the Western States and Mexico and within one year it was leading in year-over-year improvement in each key area of the business, including revenue growth, customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction. By 2005, Dan had responsibility for all U.S. sales operations and the integration of all marketing-related activities. He also led OCE’s efforts to integrate Imagistics, a key acquisition.

Most recently, Dan served as president for the Newgen Results Corporation, a database marketing and consulting firm and wholly-owned subsidiary of TeleTech. He successfully negotiated its sale and integration into the procuring company.

Dan received his B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Irvine. His continuing professional development includes courses in Executive Systems Literacy, Total Quality Management, Managing Diversity, Advanced Management Studies, Advanced Sales Training, and Leading Cross-Function. He has served on the boards of American Printware and Percepta (Ford/Teletech Joint Venture). He has also been an invited speaker to The Executive Committee (TEC Worldwide), the world’s largest CEO membership organization.
